TJ Loses Mayoral Election. Next Up: Goal of the Year!

Despite the best efforts of our site and our new friends, we are sad to say that our efforts to get TJ elected as a write-in candidate for mayor of St. Louis have fallen short.

At least we have four more years to prepare for the next election; surely we'll have an army ready to mobilize by that point!

And so it's time to move on to our next task: get TJ Oshie's goal against teh vancouver Canucks selected as 'Goal of the Year' on NHL.com.

He's going up gainst four other worthy competitors, but clearly, The Osh's is the best. You can see the beautiful move, as well as his competitiors (though we don't know why you'd bother with watching those) at the site.

There are no rules about how often you vote, so be sure to hit 're-fresh' a few times and stuff the virtual ballot box.

The polls close Friday, April 10, so be sure to act now!

  6. I heard that somebody got in trouble for this. That is ridiculous, this is America. You should be able to vote for anybody anytime for any reason. You have the freedom to vote for any reason, even if it makes no sense (I mean look at all the people who voted in our current president).

Oh, and great game last night, Stl played physical and hard but needs to get more puck possession in the offensive end.

  9. Please email Chrismer (the election official who said he will prosecute) at election@sccmo.org

Here's what I wrote to him:
How the hell would anybody know it’s illegal to show a completed ballot? Its asshole politicians that write laws that are so gray and stupid a citizen is virtually certain to be guilty of something.

If you want to discourage the buying and selling of votes THEN MAKE THAT ACT ILLEGAL. Don’t make-up some bullshit law that makes an innocent act illegal because it MAY lead up to something that is clearly illegal.

I will personally fund his defense and make sure you are embarrassed by this stupid prosecution. And by the way, your law is UNCONSTITUTIONAL.

  11. Thank you anonymous poster who gave out Chrismer's email address. This is what I wrote him:

    Mr. Chrismer:

Stop being a fool. The whole country will hate you for this. Despite it being a hugely unpopular move on your part, even if you did succeed it would only prove that the citizens of this country no longer have any rights. If you wish to follow in the footsteps of monsters like Herbert Hoover (who resigned us all to credit-based slavery by giving control of the people's money to the Federal Reserve), I can pretty much guaranty that you will eventually be crushed by your decision to do so (in one way or another). You are making a grave error in the name of self-righteous tyranny. Please come to your senses, man!

  12. The day you stop fighting stupid laws is the day you lose your freedom. This country was FOUNDED on fighting stupid laws.

  17. Thanks for the email address, here's what i wrote him.

Dear, Rich Chrismer, The following is my opinion on the matter of a quote, given by you to the St. Louis Post, on the issue of a person taking a picture of a ballot, and posting it on the internet.

"[the voter] violated the law, and I'm going to prosecute." so let me get this straight, you plan to throw away tax payers money to prosecute a person who was making a joke? Even though it broke a law, a severely out-dated law, intended to keep the buying and selling of votes... when was the last time that issue was and actual problem?

Heres my advice for you Mr. Chrismer, quit being a stuck up prick and find something more important to waste your time on. By following through with this you will only be making a fool of yourself and St. Charles County.

    P.S.
    LETS GO BLUES!!!

  18. To those running this blog:

Please DO NOT help identify the person who photographed himself with his Oshie ballot. This guy Chrismer should be charged himself if he pursues a case against this guy. How, in any way, did anyone get hurt or have their own rights violated by one person showing who they voted for? As was already stated, this law is severely outdated. How does a simple photograph showing who a person voted for give reason to believe there is some illegal buying/selling of votes at hand? What would be the difference if this person was interviewed on the street by a news reporter and stated who he voted for? I'm pretty sure we've all seen someone state who they voted for on the news on election day before. This entire situation is absurd. I hope Chrismer realizes the idiocy in his statement and makes that known to the public.

And I'm not even a Blues fan!

    FLYERS!!!!!!

  19. To all the people who are (rightly) upset about an election commissioners foolish desire to prosecute an individual for taking a picture of a completed ballot, I would suggest that they spell the words in their argument correctly as it gives their claims more veracity. You can pretend you're smart and are an expert speller (like I just did), by downloading Mozilla Firefox and using it, because it's built in spell checker ensures you can be pedantic without being exposed as a fool.

I know shit about hockey. But I sure love watching the fights!

  21. Dear, Rich Chrismer

Here are the other laws you may want to encourage prosecution of (unless you are violating them yourself - then turn yourself in.

In Missouri, a man must have a permit to shave.

Eating Clam Chowder is illegal on a Sunday between 11:50 and 12:48

Clotheslines are illegal but clothes may be draped over a fence to dry.

It is illegal to have oral sex.

It is not illegal to speed.

In this small town of only 4,000, yard waste may be burned any day except Sunday.

Hard objects may not be thrown by hand.

Worrying squirrels will not be tolerated.

Minors are allowed to buy shotguns however, they may not purchase cap pistols.

Installation of bathtubs with four legs resembling animal paws is prohibited.

Minors can buy rolling paper and tobacco but not lighters.

It is illegal for more than four unrelated persons to occupy the same dwelling (The Brothel Law).

Frightening a baby is in violation of the law.

It shall be unlawful to provide beer or other intoxicants to elephants.

    Dancing is strictly prohibited.

It's illegal to sit on the curb of any city street and drink beer from a bucket. This law refers back to the extinct Italian celebration, Hill Day, when beer was served in buckets.

A milk man may not run while on duty.

No person may own a PVC pipe.

    Good Luck Wasting Taxpayer Money!!!

  24. Taking a picture can show proof of who you voted for, telling a reporter is not proof. Who would pay for a vote without proof? Hence the law. Still a douche bag move to prosecute, selling his vote was obviously not this guy's intention and in todays economy, why spend money on prosecuting a harmless crime?

    GO WINGS!!

  25. Y'know, I understand the intent of the law, but I think that they went a little too far with this one.

  26. I second the popular opinion here. I don't care about hockey, but I do get pissed off when Americans can't have a little innocent fun. I know plenty of people who did write-ins for the presidential election last year and posted it on Facebook. Why didn't they get prosecuted?

Because it was a joke. Politicians need to be replaced with people with a little humour.

  27. the law states that "a completed ballot may not be photographed". at the time of the photo, there was only ONE selection filled out and that is visible. Oshie didn't pay anyone. no one did. he's not even elegible for the position. stop wasting time and money. move on

  28. Not every example is some old forgotten legislation. In Missouri, beginning August 29, 2009, all sawmills within the state borders are to be called flower shops or farms.
